'85 vette, I'm trying to remove the injectors without removing the runners, and have the drivers side out. The information I have says it is also possible to remove the drivers side, but I cant get it out. Everything is disconnected but the part on the end of the rail towards the firewall, I assume this is the fuel pressure regulator. I have removed the torx screws that are obvious, but I'm not sure how the FPR comes off, any help or advise is appreciated
Nevermind, I found the other screw on the underside of the regulator.

Reason: fixed it
I would just take off the runners. They go on and off quite easily. The FPR does not have to come off to remove your fuel rail. You will however have to depressureize the fuel system and disconnect the two fuel lines attached to the front of the fuel rail to completly remove the fuel rail.
yes, you can pull the runners without removing the valve covers. search the forum for some tricks to get at those hidden torx bolts and it is best to have a 1/4" drive set of torx bits. not that bad if you have the right tools.
You do not have to remove the valve covers to get the fuel rail off. It makes it a little easier if you do. Most say the fuel rail can come off if the passenger side runner is removed, but I found it difficult if the drivers side runner was not removed. It's not that much more work and it makes it easier if both runners are out of the way.
You have to pull up firmly on the fuel rail after the 4 bolts are removed and the fuel lines are disconnected. The injectors are held in with clips. After the rail is out, you have to use a flat head screwdriver to twist the clips loose. I would have new o-rings ready for the injectors and fuel rail to fuel line connections.
