Default 1994 Opti-Spark Late or Early Model Unit?

I have a 1994 Corvette Coupe and I would like to replace the OEM Opti-Spark unit with a MSD unit but I do not know which MSD Model Unit I should purchase? The late model unit for a 1994 (#83811) or the early model unit for a 1994 (#8381)? My Corvette VIN # indicates it was one of the first 1700 units built in 1994 and this leads me to think I would need the 1994 early model unit #8381 - can anyone tell me at what point in the 1994 production run (VIN #) did GM change the Opti-Spark model?

Amazing! We have the same name and the same 1994 Corvette Coupe and I just bought a MSD opti for mine as well. Purchased from a supporting vendor here called "ThunderRacing"... I bought the 8381 version as it came with a vent kit. I was told by ThunderRacing that all 1994s take the same opti #8381.

In 1994, the aluminum head LT1 engines (Y-body and F-body) got the early Opti-Spark, and the iron head LT1 engines (B-body, I think) got the late (vented) Opti-Spark.
In 1995, they all got the late Opti-Spark.

Well its always good to meet another "Bill Wilson" and 1994 owner - I appreciate the follow-up from you and from Tom on the correct Opti-Spark info. I like that Copper Metallic color you have on your Vette, mine is your basic white. Also thanks for passing on the Thunder Racing contact.
