Default Gas Gauge Problem

My gauge started acting up recently. It goes between accurate and reading a lot more full. It's not from movement - it happens sitting still. I inspected the wires near the tank and they look OK - moving them around doesn't change the reading. Sometimes it's perfectly accurate, and other times is doesn't really move off of full until the tank's nearly empty.

Am I looking at a new sender here? How much do they run? I have GMPP until end of January but with a $100 deductible - if it's less I'll do it myself and save the labor costs.

Car is a 96 LT4.

I experienced the same thing with my LT4 last month. I checked the fuse (memory storage fuse) and it was burned out. Replaced it and it works fine now. Check the fuse box.

Interesting. It would actually come and go as far as readings go? I'll have to check that out tomorrow...
