This week made a couple of stops with car! 2nd stop car would crank but not start tried hour later and three hours latter, no start! Have 40lbs fuel pressure. Next morning hit key started right up, shut it off. Next morning same thing. Today had time to start it up let it run for 15 minutes. seemed to idle fine. Now 30 minutes later cranks but won't fire. 1st things to check? have original injectors. Have FSM looks like should check injectors?? Thanks for any help from others who have had this problem.
When it won't start, that is the time to do some diagnositic tests. First see if there are any stored codes. If none, then follow the standard tests to determine what is missing. Engines require fuel and air (and in the correct ratio) and spark and spark at the right time in order to start and run. Use your timing light to see if you have spark and spark at the right time. You say you have fuel pressure? Good, do you have fuel pressure during cranking? Now connect a noid light (available at parts stores) or a low power 12v lamp like a 194 side marker lamp across an unplugged injector socke and see if it pulses during cranking. Is the EGR valve fully closed? Will it start if you unplug the MAF? (defective MAF).
Take the ICM (ignition control module) to Autozone and have it checked. They often start showing signs of failure as they warm up. And you could also see if holding the gas peddle to the floor while cranking helps it start (puts the computer into flood mode) if it does you may have leaky injectors. Car will usually start fine cold but has starting problems after running for awhile.
