Default Cleaned radiator and installed Zex kit!!!

Hi all. Took all the advise on here and checked for leaves, bags, and the neighbor's cat between the radiator and condenser. All of that was in there. I sawzalled a hole, then ground it smooth, in the top of the "shroud" between the radiator and condenser, that way I can remove the air scoop and shop vac the leaves out anytime I want, then when I reinstall the air scoop the hole can't be seen. Temps weren't too bad before, but now she holds about 185 on the highway on a 90 degree day!!! (Has a 180 T stat). Thanks for all the posts and advice on the cleaning, otherwise I would have never known. Also installed a Zex 125 kit (starting out with 75 jets), 15 lb bottle with blow down tube, MSD RPM window switch, bottle heater, and purge kit. Can't wait to get the bottle filled today. All the solenoids click when and as they should so it should work. 2 questions.... 1. Any advice on timing? I am set at 6 degrees, and figure I'd leave it there for the 75 jets. Then try the 100, then the 125. If I hear any detonation I'll get out of it, then set the timing back before I run it again. Question 2. anyone running a 100, 125, or 150 shot ever blow a stock engine? Wondering how much I can safely run, I need 2 years out of my engine till I can afford that 383.

'89 Convertible, LT headers, true duals, 1.6 RR's, NGK TR6 plugs, Taylor wires, cut lid, remove frisbee, 180 stat, 200 degree aux. fan sensor. 125 shot under construction

General rule of thumb is,

retard the timing 2* for every 50 shot of nitrous. Also, a stock L98 can take up to 125 shot of nitrous safely IF used correctly.

Look in the C4 Forced induction/nitrous forum for more specifics.

Been searching some over there. Many more people on over here. I was wondering if that is 2 degrees every 50 from my factory 6 degrees, or 2 degrees every 50 from where I run without nitrous (around 10 degrees) I'm guessing, but if I can run 10 degrees without detonation, then 6 degrees should be good for a 100 shot. Not sure tho. I'll listen for detonation, but would rather be fairly sure that I'm not going to get it before I shoot that first shot. Never hurts to double check with the experts on here when I'm literally playing with fire!!!

Retard the timing 2* from your stock 6* since you still have the stock L98 internals. Also, you should run a colder spark plug. By the time you hear detonation, it might be too late.

A friend of mine installed a nitrous kit on his brand new 3 month old "93" Vette and bent several piston rings because he couldn't hear the engine detonating, since the car he was racing next to at the track had open headers.

Fortunately, he could afford a new engine and fixed it himself.

Running a colder plug would help. I am using NGK TR6's. They are cheap and easy to find. You may also want to make sure your fuel system is %100. I upgraded to SVO 24# fuel injectors. If nothing else at least change the filter. Do you have a 15# or 10# bottle?

Good Luck. You are going to love the N2O.

I have already installed NGK TR6's and gapped them at .035. My fuel pressure is right where it should be. I have changed the fuel filter, and will run 93 octane gas. I have run 10 degree timing N/A with no sign of detonation. I was planning on trying the 75 shot with the stock 6 degree timing. Guess I shouldn't. I also have the RPM window switch set at 2800 for nitrous to come on. Is that a good setting, or should it be higher?
