Read this if you use Dexcool coolant
Don't look for GM to pay out mega-millions on this one. GM is still installing Dexcool in all of their vehicles.
no, Dexcool isnt perfect. it often does need to be changed well before
its claimed life expectancy.
but anybody who properly maintains their vehicle should notice signs of problems well before it becomes serious.
most of the people joining these lawsuists obviously dont take good care of their cars...
would serve them right if GM counter sued them for neglectful maitenence...
one other thing. many of the "green" antifreezes now on the market are labeled as "compatible with any type/color antifreeze"
and are modified OAT/HOAT types themselves.
are not the old conventional phosphate/silicate types, which are still available, but are becoming harder to find.
many parts stores only carry them as "house brands", or other off brands.
i`ve been using the new type green coolants in a few vehicles, over the last 4 years or so, without any issues, but will continue to flush them every 2-3 years anyway...
