sidepipes
I wouldn't want them on an otherwise stock car, but I happen to like the way they look.

And how could side exhaust ever be a bad thing?
Impractical or obnoxious, sure.

You'll have to figure something up by yourself.

not sure on how it hooks up..
not sure on how it hooks up..
Or....how to put sidepipes on your ride for $300.
Mufflers not required.
Its obviously just mocked up, and you could certainly use better quality piping. But since this is just going to be a driver for my wife to run around in, and ultimate HP was not the goal, the $3 Autozone 90 degree and 45 degree bends worked just fine.
And it sounds great, not too loud as I was afraid of.

Anyway...... Here is what I have laid out to do, but I need to see if I can get my local muffler shop dirt track racing friend to do it.
1. I want real side pipes.

2. I need a catalytic converter...
3. I need a muffler
Here is the plan!
1. Here are the parts for the side pipes

2. You see the black pipes that are under the heat shield? I will put my catalytic converter and muffler there.

YES! It is a glass pack...... Sorry I am a 70 pot-head and I like the sound

3. I will wrap them with heat insulation for header, paint it flat black and put the heat shield on.
4. Where the 3" stainless pipes that turns out right behind the tire, I will bend the pipe up as it comes out and the top of the side pipe is just below the bottom of the door. That should give me more clearance.
5. I will go straight from my header and out to the side pipes.
One issue I think will be a problem is the PLASTIC rocker panel under the door. Not sure if is can take the heat. Is there a fiberglass replacement. I guess I could make one out of stainless...
Anybody see a reason this will not work?
1. Final color will be flat light primer gray (that is what I want for this car) The back window will say "Primed & Ready" that is a term from the days of sailing ships and when the cannons were primed, they were ready to fire!
2. I am about to rebuild the engine because it has over 200,000 miles on it and it blows more power around the rings that a new Mustang has total!
3. The 84, is the last year that is not fuel injected (I was wrong, my bad), anyway I will cut the hood and add a high-rise manifold and a breather with the three red butterfly flap valves on the front, or what ever you call it.

So, I think the side pipes will match the rest. LOL
Now I love the clean look of the C4, so I will not add any effects to the body. The modification or effects will be the engine busting out through the hood and the exhaust busting out the sides.
