tune up

I removed the fender panels and both front wheels to gain more clearance to the plugs and wires, but others have their methods.
Don't forget the anti-sieze compound for the new plugs.
With the wires, the driver's side is a bear (the dreaded LT1 hellhole). I had to remove the intake coupling, the ASR module, the serpentine belt, the tensioner pulley, the idler arm AND unbolt the PS pump to get to the wires.
Took me nearly three hours. Thank God for the clamshell hood, though. Can't imagine the drama with an F-body.
One more thing. The wire holders and separators tend to get brittle from engine heat and break while you remove them. You can get the O.E.M. Packard wire holders from Mid America or Eckler's or any speed shop if you want to go fancy aftermarket.
For the wires, O.E.M. AC/Delco is fine, but a lot of peeps opt for the 8 mm. Taylor Pro Spiral or MSD wires. I went with the Belden Super Blue Premium 7 mm. wires from NAPA.
Be sure and wrap your coil wire in a 6" section of corrugated, plastic, flexible tubing if yours is missing. It helps reduce wire chafing and heat degradation since that wire spans the top of the water pump housing.
You can get it from any auto parts store.
Have fun!
