Brake Question
I have a concern - The front wheels seem to be a lot warmer that I think they should be and definitely a lot hotter than the rear. I took the tires back off and turned the rotors by hand. They seemed to be little more difficult than I liked (It took a little effort). Both rotors are about the same as far a resistance. I am afraid either I have screwed something up in the caliper or it is not floating in the bracket. I can move the caliper but it is definitely not "floating". It takes effort. I have read about lubing the pin. Can anyone give me more information about where to actually lube (pin and/or any other contact points) and what lube to use?
Here's a trouble shootimg site. http://www.classicperform.com/TechBo...oubleshoot.htm
In general the front brakes provide 70% of the stopping power and therefore will produce 70% of the heat that comes from braking.
There are a number of brake lubes out there. I think the one from motorcraft has a diagram in the box with the tube of goo. The pins are all you need to worry about for lube.
Were your old rotors worn evenly inside to outside? Were the old pads the same thickness inside vs outside?
