Recently I bought a new Focus with the 5 speed stick. I like it a LOT better than driving an auto. Now that i've gotten fairly good at driving a stick, I wish my vette was a stick. I know converting is out of the question due to time and money. I'm looking at '92-'96 cause I like the 6 speed combined with the higher rpm LT1. Its the same old story though, finding ANY C4 with a stick is extremely hard Any advice on finding one easier?
I'll trade you my '86E 4+3 for your Auto. Mine has 94k miles. Everything works, nice car, no issues. I keep my wheels.
Nice I'm afraid that yours is probably worth more than mine. I probably would already have it up for sale if it wasnt for the clearcoat peeling off. That alone makes it not wanted. Thanks for the offer though.

4ever, the dude wants an auto. That Clear coat issue is not a huge one. Sure it is a lot of work but to get the car that configured the way you want it........may be worth it.
Thanks. I wasn't too excited about the color when I first acquired the car but it did grow on me. After upgrading to the 17" ZR1 Wheels the appeal factor went way up. I really like the contrasting colors of Chrome, Aqua/Teal and Black. I love the car. I think this is the best angle for photogging your C4.

How many miles on yours?
Mines got 113K miles, new Edelbrock heads, exhaust. The interior is in great shape, everything works nothing broken. My power antenna doesnt go up and down anymore. CD player, 4 new Alpine speakers. Like I said the only major problem is the paint.
He lives on the other side of the country too, so that doesnt make things any easier.

See? sure there are two years difference but they are close and He wants an Auto.

I dunno where I got the idea.
Repainting is not quite as hard as changing out a manual tranny for an Auto Tranny.
think about it, you even need a new Drive Shaft not to mention a Pedal is missing.
I'm not trying to talk anybody into anything, just pointing out an obvious possibility. Yes, I wonder about trading as well, but I'm not the one that made the initial offer

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you're in a auto car that you want to convert to manual, you can keep the D36 and use your existing driveshaft. I'm assuming you need the shorter driveshaft if you also purchase a D44. I have been told as long as the person who continues using the D36 doesn't intend to do drag racing that the D36 will be fine.
Overall, it doesn't seem to be a hard task. The HARDEST part to me is the electrical part, that involves running the wires that a stick car uses. I guess you can cure that by purchasing the same engine harness from the same year of Corvette and just plug in and be done.
I guess if your Corvette isn't a daily driver or one you want to turn a profit on in the future, then the auto to manual swap doesn't seem too bad. Might I suggest the Z/F 6spd swap or something similar in which the shifter DOESN'T require external shift rods so you don't have to fabricate a pocket to hold the shift linkage like you will with a 4+3.......what was I thinking..

I know my exterior isnt the best, but like I said the top of the engine has been rebuilt, doesnt burn any oil and is in tip top shape. Would you be downgrading? Cosmetically yes. Mechanically no because it would have roughly 30 more horsepower at the wheels and be in good working order.
I dont blame him for not wanting to trade though, its so easy to find an auto for cheap. I'll keep looking though, i'm in no hurry.
