Default somethings wrong?

89 vette with 68000 miles no mods runs fine, here is the problem after the car is running if i turn it off i have to wait approx 5 mins for it to start again. from reading the posts here i think it might be my injectors but am looking for some sound advice and also how i can tell if my injectors are bad, i'm a complete noob so i would need step by step instructions of what to do. thanks in advance for any and all help.

What happens if you try to start within 5 minutes, no start? Try to start at the 2 minute mark and if it doesn't start, stop, then try again and hold the pedal to the wood, does it start then?

hold the pedal to the wood=floor the accelerator pedal

Doesn't sound like your injectors...the chances of all of them going bad at once are very slim, however if you want to check them, pull the electrical clip off (just squeeze the wire spring) and put a digital ohm meter on the connectors. The reading should be about 16 ohms + or _ 3 ohms. If you get readings way lower than that on each individual injector it is bad, or very close to bad. Like I said...it does not sound like the problem is in the injectors though. Keep us up to date as to what you try and find out

I had that same problem on and 89 I bought from a forum member (he couldn't figure it out either). I had another 89 sitting here so parts were not a problem. I eliminated everything but the injectors (they ohmed out okay). Put new Ford injectors in, and the problem went away. I'm not sure why it fixed it ( I resisted doing it until I'd tryed everything else, still doesn't make sense), but it did.

sounds suspiciously like :
1. a maf power relay.
2. not enough silicone grease on the distributor module
3. a bad coil
4. a bad ECM

I'll bet its coil related.....coil or coil wire.

Sounds very much like the same symptoms my 89 had. Tested the injectors.....2 good....4 at about 13 ohm....2 bad...car would start and run....turn the car off.....sometimes it would take 5-10 minutes to start again....new injectors = no problems any more, running great.....good luck

Enjoy the ride!

thanks guys for the information i'm gonna check to see what the injectors ohm at this weekend and also gonna check the fuel pressure and see if i have any issues with either of them or both. after i do it i will post my findings and go from there. if it turns out to be the injectors any suggestions on which ones to buy and have installed would really be appreciated. thanks again.

I agree.
I had a different but similar problem with mine.
ONE of the cause was the CTS on the intake manifold.
