Default Advice rear end swap

Im looking at using a Dana 36 RPO G92, RPO G44 3.07 auto pumpkin (from an early 90's vette)to replace the current Dana 36 2.59 in my Auto 89.
Advise please
Can I use the rest of my current rear-end to complete the swap, and are there any foreseeable problem’s?
Updated speedo gear, number of teeth required?.

Yes you can use everything else. This is a pretty straight forward nuts and bolts kinda job. You can either change the speedo gears or buy an electronic box to do it. The box is $$ the gears are cheap but require pulling the tailshaft off the trans. Since you will have the driveshaft out and the C-beam off anyways I would just change the gears. Central Coaster of CFI EFI or Pete K I'm sure will chime in with the CORRECT speedo gears. If you want more grunt this would be a great time to swap your stock converter too.

I don't know what stall to suggest for an L98 but the guy to talk to is Pete K. He's on the forum. I will send him a pm link to this thread.

I have a question for this thread, as im swapping in gears too, but to add to the spedo correction mix, : I just got some new wheels and tires, wich are larger than my old ones, I think stock tires were 255/50-16's and measured somewheres around 11.8 inches at a loaded tire radius, and my new wheels are 275/40-18's with a loaded tire radius at about 12.90 so how should I try and correct my spedo for that? my car is an 84 automatic

I don't know but what you should do is start a new thread in C4 tech and you will get your answer. The black box will account for tire size I THINK.

Just reuse your rear cover from your 2.59 diff and bolt it all back in

Do you have to pull the tailshaft? I thought you could just pull the speedometer sensor or whatever it is called, then remove and change the driven gear for a swap from 2.59's to 3.07's. Is this correct??
