This is on a '96 LT1. Service engine light came on and stayed on two days and 60 miles, then went out. I thought it stayed on until the problem was fixed and the light was reset. So, does the light go out and the problem remain, or if the problem resolves itself does the light go out. I had just ran a bottle of techron through the tank and refilled it, so maybe that had something to do with it?

You have an OBD11 computer. Go to fleaBay and get for $19.95 a OBD11 code reader. It come with a manual and an explanation of all codes and will also erase those stored codes. It has saved me much time and with a factory service manual, it will save you tons of money.

OBD I uses the paperclip method, OBD II needs a code reader ('96 and newer vehicles).
Good information you guys. Thanks. There is an Autozone down on the corner from me, and I will go see if I can use their code reader. I may check on E-Bay for a reader also. Thanks again.
