I say, "go ahead and do it yourself." There is no greater feeling than doing it yourself. I have never done a brake booster but it can't be as hard as removing and replacing the engine. And I did that to my car twice last year. And I'm by no means a mechanic. Just like to take something on and learn from doing. Then you can always look at that brake booster and say, "yep, put that one in myself." And if you get stuck in the middle of putting it in you just go on the forum and ask, and within minutes you will have answers.

The whole process was pretty easy. I had to do it 3 times in a row because I got two bad break boosters in a row, go figure. The first time it took half hour the second and third time took about fifteen minutes.
