Default C4 (1994 Coupe) Ratchet Shifter?

Does anyone make or offer a "ratchet-type shifter" for a C4 that will mount in the stock shifter location? I had a B&M ratchet shifter in a C3 (1973) that worked well but the mounting location did not allow the shifter to be installed in the stock location and instead needed to be mounted on top of the console. It functioned fine but did not look too good. I've checked a few web sites but have not found exactly what I'm looking for in the way of a rachet shifter. Suggestions welcomed.

Yes a rachet shifter for an automatic transmission. No matter what you do or how hard you hit the shifter it will only rachet up or down one gear position with each movement of the shifter.

I've heard of a few being adapted to fit but I don't believe there are any bolt-ins on the market. I think a good machinist/fabricator could make one up.

This guy posted a way to modify the stock shifter to be gated.
Was going to try it myself, but never got around to it.

Thanks for the web site info on how to modify the stock shifter - since I'm just OK with the "wrenches" I think I need to find myself a good transmission shop with a cooperative owner/machinist. I'm also going to look into who's ratchet-shifter might be the best to modify in order to make it fit the stock Corvette console in my 1994 C4. I've been told B&M makes a rachet shifter that fits the stock console of the mid 90's Camaro and Firebird so perhaps I'll start there. Thanks again.

there is no way the camaro one will work..i am pretty sure that the vettes use less then 1/3 the space for its shifter.

ski down it put a hammer shifter in his but no details, don't know what year, but its not a lt1.
I've been wanting to put one in my 94 also ,no one makes it,also thought of the firebird console model too, but i guess that's not going to work either.
I'm going to see if i can modify my stock shifter.

This works but you have to push in the button every time you shift.
I have a reverse valve body trans and I used the pic to know where to grind the area to lock out 4 the gear.

I had a B&M ratchet shifter in my 89 5.0 Moostang and I couldn't stand it. To each their own.

Im interested also if someone can post a proper link. Had a B&M shifter in my 1988 Formula 350 Firebird. Did a lot of mods to fit the stock location without cutting and using their plate as per their instructions. Turned out great but took time.

I thought I'd throw this out. I have a 4l60e in my 84 bracket car. I control the wot shift rpm with a laptop via a tci computer controller. The shifts are dead on every pass; much more consistant that a manual shift auto. I just put it in drive and hit the throttle. The shift rpms are easily changed with the computer if necessary. Your 94 has a 4l60e also.

I've built two ratchet setups, the first one had a full interior. That took some custom work to blend it in. In my track car I don't have an interior any longer. I've seen the shift gate mod, you just notch the metal creating extra gates for the gears. If you take it apart and look at it you'll see what needs to be done.

I have my trans in full manual mode and setup an RPM box. It will shift at whatever RPM I want or I can use the push buttons.

Testing it out:

The original stock Corvette 700R4 shifter in my 88 Corvette has a gear selector switch on the side of shifter with a wiring plug and several wires for neutral and overdrive. If I install a B&M Hammer Shifter, how do you modify wiring harness or delete it so lockup works? Or does it re-locate to new shifter somehow?
