Ok, I have a 93 vette LT1, cars runs strong nothing wrong with it, but I have a chance to have a free stock LT1 intake manifold, should I take it and try to port it myself? or take it somewhere and get it ported or do something else with it? Or should I just leave my stock one on and leave it alone?
The words "try to port it myself" should not go together.
You will never convince me of that. Porting things myself is one of the greatest hot rodding tricks I have ever taken the time to learn. There is a ton of good information out there that will teach you how air flows and how not to "muck it up".
IMHO "you cannot do it yourself" is one of the great myths spread by those in the business to try to convince us all that there is some great mystic secret to it.
Can you muck it up? Yea you sure can, you can muck up an oil change too. That doesnt mean that those of us with a reasonable level of intelligence shouldnt take the time to learn it.
Can a guy with a flowbench and 10 years experience do a better job?
Sure he can.....for an arm and a leg.

Save it until you decide to port the heads and then have them all done together. You're unlikely to gain anything with a ported intake on an otherwise stock LT1. You are however likely to lose low end torque by doing so.
