I have searched all over this forum and haven't found an appropriate post to answer my question.
I can find no marking or range indicator on my belt tensioner. I had no problem moving it with the breaker bar to remove the belt (replaced noisy air pump), but I'm wondering if the tensioner on the '87 L 98 is a totally automatic operation. Or am I missing something basic?
No, I don't have an FSM. That's my bad, but I am ordering one next week...
The tentioner just bounces up and down as it needs to .Their is some marks on the tentioner you can to use but ,if it is stock I would not worry about it.
The tensioner is spring loaded and requires no adjustment. The indicator just shows that it is not worn out and is applying the correct tension. As long as you are not experiencing any belt slippage, I wouldn't worry about it.
