looking for my next upgrade, longtube header compaired to shorty's?
what kind of improvement's can i count on (hp's) i have a 94 (auto) with 40k. already have the borla's and 315 gears.
i cant give u numbers just experience from hearing the previous forums i been on but from what i heard shorties do almost about nothing more than stock headers and that long tubes are the best. i bought shorties and then read this thing and sent em back. all i can help u with
Here's a comparison of shorty's vs long tubes on my modified LT1. Didn't gain much peak hp, but a nice gain up the curve. The small camshaft might have limited my peak hp
TPIS are widely believed to be the best out there and the easiest to install. Get the ceramic coated ones. Mine will be installed with a Corsa system in 2 weeks!
I had Stainless Works LTs installed on my 95A4 along with RT hi flow cats and kept my stock cat back exhaust as it's non restrictive up to about 400HP. Just love the sound very low & throaty sorta like a big block. Did not do a before & after dyno so could not tell you exactly what impact it had except for the sotp kick it seems to give at the low end.
thanks for all the help, ideas. are the cats deleated with the long tubes? i dont have to worry with emission inspection anymore. what do they call the unit halfway thru the system? another form of cat (power robber).
Went with "MELROSE" Long tube with jet hot coating and deleted the cats and air. Bought it all withthe x-tube to the mufflers workmanship was GREAT ease of hook up, GREAT people to work with and good for help on the phone ask for Chris .

wro87,
Did the 3" pipes and cats fit easily beneath the X-brace?
When I talked to Chris at Melrose, he said there may be some "flattening" of the pipes necessary. That true? Thanks.
To anyone,
I happened upon a resonator cut-away view that had an x-pipe inside, but lost it when I had to re-boot my stupid computer. Anyone seen this also? I have done numerous searches, all to no avail. All help appreciated.

Dynomax makes the "Ultra-flo X". I heard WRO87's vette at Ted's garage sounds great standing still and on the highway. http://www.teds-garage.com/index.html

I originally bought the dyno max. The pipe spacing combined with the width of the unit is a no fit, no way. However, I returned it and got the magnaflow. available in 2.5 or 3" dual in/out. Built in x-pipe, better flow than dyno max and cheaper! I have it on a stock system with muffler elims. The sound is amazing.
