Default Another A/C ???

Well , got everything else working , AGAIN.. The new seats are in , the knock sensor code is fixed , and my tuner just got back f/ Dr Don's and got that in. So , i'm down to just an a/c issue. Will start going through the troubleshooting w/ the FSM this week , but wanted to know if anyone else had seen this and maybe cut out some of the time in troubleshooting..

A/C works great, nice and cold. But, only on 60° setting, BTW it's a 95 coupe w/ the electronic controlled A/C. When I go to any other temp the airflow seems to decrease and go through the floor and defrost.. Everything else works fine, like I said, if I leave it on 60° which is the usual driving here in TX gets hot. , it works great. So haven't really considered it an issue , but why not fix the rest of it.. TIA .

Pull the courtesy lights and radio fuses for one minute, then re-install. It resets the Auto A/C to it's default settings. From the owner's manual.

Rufneck, I have this same problem with my 89. I get airflow at 60*, but when I turn it up to 90* it quits blowing and starts coming out the floor and defrost vents.

Did you find anything out?

Haven't found the problem yet Josh. I did pull the fuses and let it reset and the air did come out the proper vents for a little while. I also check the freon and it was low, reset the defaults again, by pulling the radio and Ctsy light fuses for a minute. Again it came out the right places but only for a day, then went back to the floor. This leads me to believe that its the control head, I asked this question to Gordon Killebrew at the FunFest last weekend and he figured it to be the control head as well. Since the air will flow properly for a little while after resetting I don't think it's a vacuum prob. Anyhow I'm still looking at it. BTW www.doctordons.com repairs control heads as well as bose stereos.

The Control Head or Dash Controls on the '95 communicate with the Processor or Programmer over serial data lines. The Programmer then directs low voltage signals to the Blower Module (on the Evaporator Case) which determines Blower Speed; sends a voltage signal to the PCM for compressor control; switches vacuum to the doors that control where the air flows, and controls an electric motor which moves a door between the heater and evaporator cores providing cool air, heat or both. There is a serial data link to the CCM so that you can troubleshoot the system with a Bi-directional scanner which is the easiest way to determine whether the problem rests with the Controls or the Programmer. Your problem, however sounds like it rests with the Programmer - it isn't maintaing proper air flow position except at the 60 degree setting. You could replace it with a rebuild or see what a dealer wants to troubleshoot it with the correct tool (assuming you don't have a bi-directional scanner). Flat rate shouldn't be higher than an hour - actually it'll take all of 5 minutes.

I took my programmer out and resoldered those two resistors the cap and diodes. I noticed no change. I'll pull the head this weekend and clean up the contacts and see what that does. The head shouldn't be bad as it is only 2 years old.

Oh, at 90* I do get airflow at bi-level, but not on auto or econ.

That was the first thing that I replaced. No change. I did notice that the old one was bad because it didn't rattle.

Before I replaced it, my cruise worked just fine. So, I don't know how I could have cruise with a broke check valve. Would this suggest a vacuum problem?
