Default Power Coupler's (AKA: Intake Bellows)

I'm wondering if anyone has a line on where I can get a set of these for my 96 for a reasonable price.

I know the gains will be Jack(hp) and ****(tq) But I'm looking at them as more of a dress up item that will look better, and be easier to clean than the accordion bellows we have stock.

But there is no chance in hell any catalog is getting $120.00 + shipping from me on 2 short prices of molded rubber.

Here's the home depot/lowes custom made one.

He also threw out half the parts on his car. Ran fine though.

Check with Mid America Motorworks (mamotorworks.com). I bought one on there for an L98 (only takes one instead of 2 on an LT1) but there is no seam on mine. I know it doensn't really increase hp, but it is alot nicer to mount a nitrous nozzle in than the accordion stock one!!!

Dan is right....Mid-America. For LT-1's you need 2 of them - one from the air filter assembly to front of MAF and one from the back of the MAF to the Throttle body. I bought both because I thought they looked better than the accordians playing a Polka

That's one of the reasons I bought them for my 95. I also got them from Mid America.

I like the idea of the home depot rubber, even looked at it there. just need to get a few measurements at home on the vette. need to come up with a new coupler idea, dont like the idea of a soup can in any of my operations. i thought of using a piece of 3 inch pvc to join the parts.

I agree the ones from MAM look nice, but at $120.00 ... screw that

I was hoping either someone knew of someplace cheaper to get them, or even silicone ones, or maybe had a used set.

A construction cone probably would work perfectly to make them, the way they are tapered and the material and all. I honestly wouldn't make one from a piece of pvc pipe......I would be afraid the vibrations from the engine would carry through the hard pipe and kill the wires in the mass airflow sensor.

Youll need something that can twist and flex with the engine a bit.

Just make sure it's not too flimsy or it will get sucked shut!

A forum member bought a set, I forget who's, and that's just what happened!

went back to check out my 94 and the 4 to 3 would do fine for the first one (tb to maf), but the other maf to air filters has a much larger end on the air filter side, i dont think home depot would carry this. will keep looking around, i will not pay 120.00 for two pieces of rubber.

92 and 93 LT1s use a 1 piece as well. I purchased one for my 93. it was a pos. it didnt fit right on the throttle body and always popped off the intake when the motor was revved because it was so stiff it couldnt flex. I did like the look better tho.

They are garbage. 2 of 2 that I've seen were split open at the glue joint and were dumping unmetered dirt into the engine. Who knows how long the owners were driving without knowing that.

They can't take the heat, and they aren't flexible enough.

I bought one from ecklers for 49.00 dollars and it is definitely a piece of junk with a seam on the bottom that started to split after a few times of install / uninstall.

In thinking about it, the reason for the accordion design IS for ease of installation. The rather hard rubber was difficult to bend. Looks ? Naahhhhh. Whatever it is has to work right first THEN look good IMO.
