Well, my antenna stuck in the up position the other day and I couldn't get it to go down. The motor just kept running and nothing moved. From all the forums, it sounds like this is common. Instead of fixing or replacing the motorized antenna I went with a Shorty. I think these look good and no more power motor worries.
BUT, I'm having a problem figuring out how to connect the antenna wire (coaxial) from my new antenna to the existing wire. Behind the carpet in the hatch area is a connection for the antenna wire (coaxial cable I guess). It looks like I should be able to pull it apart, but I can't. It's spring loaded so I've tried twisting it and everything. Does anyone have any suggestions how to get this connection apart or a better way of connecting antenna wire. I guess I could solder it like a regular wire, but have never tried this on coaxial style cable.
I'd love to hear how you get this done...I tried to interest all of the aftermarket companies in developing a kit for a C4 shorty antenna but got nowhere....
It requires alot of effort, but it does come apart. I used pliers on both ends to get enough grip. When It finally came loose, I almost ended up on the garage floor
