just put in a new ecm to get ses light, well now I got the ses light. ran code, code 15 coolent temp sincer. replaced sincer and still have code 15. there are two cts one is on the left side of the block and one the right side the one I replaced, I do have the temp on my dash cluster and every thing runs normal just when you first start it up in the morning, smells rich but after it runs it's ok all day.i THINK the one on the right side, tells the ecm and the fan and a/c and the left the dash. the dealership say's there is one by the thermostate not on this motor. just each side of the block. any help sure would be appreciated thank's
The CTS sensor is on the front of the manifold. The Fan Switch is on the passenger side cylinder head. The Coolant Temp Gauge sender is on the driver's side cylinder head.
The CTS in the front of the intake manifold sends resistance signals to the ECM. This is the sensor that will cause the code and is where you need to start looking. You will need a FSM to troubleshoot.

This is for 84 Corvette correct? On a 90 Corvette the cooling fan switch is on the drivers side head between the #1 and #3 spark plugs and the temp switch is on the passenger side head toward the back right?
Oh and is there anyway to tell which head is which?

The 90 was the first year that both fans are only controled by the ECM. There is no fan switch on the 90. The coolant temp sender should be in the right side (passenger side) head between #6 and #8 plugs.
84-85, the aux fan switch (if equiped) is located between #6 and #8 plugs and the coolant guage sender is between #1 and #3 plugs. In 86, GM swapped both of these components locations, so they are located just the opposite. On the 90 that uses a digital coolant temp guage and a analog coolant temp guage....the engine temp the CTS (in the intake manifold) reads is sent to the digital readout. The coolant temp sender in the right side head is for the analog.

Ok cool. I was just wondering where the placement was cause I'm putting the aluminum 113 heads on my 86 Iroc, and I wanted to make sure they were in the right location.

Yes. The locations I described are for an 84 Crossfire.
As for which head is which, the one on the passenger side of the car is the right bank, the one on the driver's side is the left bank with odd numbered cylinders 1-7.

I know that, I meant is there anyway of telling which head is which when they are off the motor? I bought a set and I'm wondering if theres a way to tell which is which.

How do you know that you got a "set"? Maybe you got two rights or two lefts.
Actually, there are no left and right heads until they are installed. There is only one part number for each type of head, and a Chevy V8 engine takes quantity, 2. Put one on the wrong side...I dare you.

Thanks goodness for that. I didn't want to say that I thought you were an idiot.

RACE ON!!!
I just saw your post. Um I'm alittle confused maybe I'm not reading it right. I bought the heads off a member, threw another forum though. He asked what they were worth here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ight=113+heads
The heads look exactly the same, I cant tell any difference between them except for this:
I cant tell if your being sarcastic, or saying that it doesn't matter which head goes where.
ok the one in front of intake was the one just the wire was shoted out fixed it run's great no more cold start's and doe's not smell rich anymore . now with the a/c on the temp is around 197 degrees idling in town it will get up to 209,I know the newer models run hotter, and Iam thinking this is nomal, but the fan blower acts like it don't blow verry hard on high mabe that's nomal for that year model. thanks
