Rough Idle - need help!
My 87 4+3 will not idle when motor is cold. Starts immediately, but will not idle. After repeated starts, and "coaxing" motor to run with throttle until warmed up, then it will idle and seems to run OK, but has some minor back firing (running rich?). No codes are set and only recent work was disconnecting and reconnecting exhaust O2 sensor. Checked connection to sensor and it was OK and it ran OK until now. Not sure where or what to check next? Wearing out starter fast. Any ideas appreciated. :confused:

doesnt the 87 have a cold start valve? also you can try changing the temp sensor that goes to the computer cause if its bad the computer cant tell if the car is cold so it will prevent it from idle...sometimes if you have a pinhole intake leak somewhere the car might not idle when its cold then when it warms up it will seal the leak

How do you move the IAC, with the connector power or? I checked the throttle body and it is clean. Would a vacuum leak happen only when cold?
