Trans shifting REAL hard.
Just reinstalled the TPI on my 87. The trans is running to about 5-6k before shifting and then it shifts like a race car. Aren't these CPU controlled? What should I look for?

go back out to the car, and look at the TV cable that is just rearward of the actual cable. Look on the black piece the cable goes into. There will be a wear mark where the black tv cable adjuster was sitting. push the cable back to that point, or pull it out to that point.
That will be where the factory setting used to be.
