On the 95 models there is a 3rd O2 sensor on the passenger side exhaust pipe. Wanted to know if this could be removed (disconnected) without any hiccups to the PCM ?
Thanks 95vette. Appreciate the advice. Seems Gm was preparing to convert over to OMBII in 96 I guess and they started inserting the items required in 1995.
Its just there to check the function of the cat convertor as far as i know. It will set on OBD2 code if you disconnect it, but it wont effect the running of the car in any way, and it wont trigger the Service Engine soon light.
On OBD2 cars it will trigger a SES lamp. However, I am unsure on OBD1. If you can find one, there are sensors out there that will simulate the function of the post cat oxygen sensor.
I have one on another GM OBD2 car. However, I heard through the rumor mill that the manufacture is in trouble as this is against emission regulations.
Read the post ubove Svoshop, ive given the correct information for his vehicle, no O2 sensor simulator is required, cause it wont set the SES light for an OBD2 code on a 94 or 95 Corvette
If the manufacturer is smart, they will get out of that issue very easily by stating they are intended for "offroad/racetrack use only" and emissions regs wont apply
