Oil Pressure sender vs. fuel pump
True or false: When oil pressure gets too low, the fuel pump shuts down.
I've heard that it does, but it does not indicate that in my GM manual. It only says that the oil pressure sender unit will keep the car running if the fuel pump relay goes out.
1996 Collector Edition.
Thanks.

I got stung on this one so I'll throw out the first post:
Your FSM is correct. The oil pressure switch is an "over ride" for the FP relay. For years I thought it was a safety but it isn't.

The oil pressure switch is not a "safety shutoff". It is the back up for the fuel pump relay. When oil pressure reaches ~4 psi the circuit for the oil pressure switch will close and send battery voltage to the fuel pump.
