looks very straight-forward according to the helms manual!
I've got a problem with the shock rotating when I try to get the top nut loose.
These were AC Delco units that had a threaded section, then a 'box' segment on top of the threaded section.
They each have two nuts on the threaded section.
I got the first nut off by holding the 'box' segment with a second wrench to keep the shock from rotating.
The box segment snapped off when I tried to get the other bolt. Now I'm not sure how I should keep the shock from rotating so I can loosen the other bolt. Help a brutha out?
The fluid and pressure are in the bottom half of the shocks. The top tube is hollow. You should be able to hold it with no issue.
Worse case, you can hacksaw the shaft, just under the nut.
the best tool i own (out af about 60 grand worth) is a 4" grinder with a cut off wheel,, cut the sucker i have a little floor jack 15 bucks i use it to suport the hub and move it up and down to get the shocks in and out...my bilstiens have an allen key in the top end of the shaft to keep it from spinning i also added a metal washer and bushing to keep the shaft from wabeling arownd in the hole....wait a minute that didnt sound right?????
