Default Fuel pump kinks?

Soooo I go to Manny - Mo and Jacks to get brake pads and shoes for the Wifeys Cherokee. Get the stuff and say to myself get a price on a 85 fuel pump for da 84. Bob looks it up -- its cheaper than anything I found on-line. I say "1 - 85 pump, 1 - pump sock, and a fuel filter for a 84 Corvette please" --- " What you have 2 Corvette's ?" 15 Min's. later I pay for the stuff.
I get home "Look honey I gots brakes for your Jeepie" She looks in the bag and said " YOU SPENT MORE MONEY ON THAT BLACK ROLLING PIECE OF CRAP -- DIDN'T YOU!" - "IS IT EVER GOING TO END ?" I say "On channel 7 there's a horse race on -- maybe your Mother will place this time". I do her brakes ( first ). Then pulled the gas hatch off da vette and found this ---

I gots da kinks --

And this one too, but not as bad --

I also found there's more than enough space between the tank and tail above the plate / tag to put an oil cooler in there with fan -- maybe 8 to 10 inches deep.

The question is are kinks a bad thing ?

That does not look right. Is that the correct tank? Mine looked similar to this in terms of depth and hose straightness:

Yeah, that does not look right to me either. My 86 and 92 look like what 86PACER posted. Could be that the fuel lines from the tank forward are from a different year C4. I was sure they were all similar, but ???

I'd at least change out those hoses with some having the correct bends.

I seem to recall my 84 sending unit was that short (but it's been a while since I was into it). I don't remember any kinks, though.

And I installed the "85" pump and straitened the lines ( no kinks )

I can't believe how good it runs. They say after a good accident, it will never run right again.

I gots "Top-end Again"

Kinks are bad !

......."the Kinks" were a decent band in the 60's but as far as your car goes, the "kinks" are a restriction........should be "straightened" out...

You should have tested it after you shortened the hoses and eliminated the kinks. You might have been able to return that '85 pump.

RACE ON!!!
