No. It still works just fine for the back of pads. Some guys even use regular silicone. You're talking about this stuff probably:



I tried some of that on the same set of pads per instructions, and it was total garbage.

Yep, the red CRC stuff is it. Though it's supposed to cover the entire pad. The other stuff isn't made for brake pads. It's equivalent to putting wheel bearing grease on the back of your pads.

I used the anti-vibration on the backs of the pads, and re-dressed the parts (pins, etc.) with hi-temp caliper grease. I really believe now that it's probably just the brand of pads. Should of got Hawks, I kept hearing only positives about it.

I don't think it has anything to do with bedding the brakes. It is more of a high frequency vibration or chatter because of operating clearances between parts. OEM pads have a compound applied to the backside of the outer pads to help prevent this. Other areas that could help would be applying a small amount of antiseize to the caliper guides. Often the pads will vibrate between the caliper guides and the piston surface or caliper frame.
