I am looking into buying some BFGoodrich 255-50-16's for my 86. Looks like there are not too many options. Is there a size thats close that will work? This is my first vette at age 56 and really like it. Have had a few other problems but working them out (A/C, Rear end rebuild, etc.). Had the rear end done and will soon get into a/c work Sunday (cousin is the expert on this).
......tires are subjective and unless you have special needs in a tire, they do the same thing...you profile does not say where you live or if you will drive in winter, etc.....
...i use sumitomo tires that, in my opinion, are better the the
bf goodrich kdws' i had on previously...the tread pattern on my tires are in a "V" and effectively chanel water from beneath the tire and corner very well......just stick with the stock size.....
Choices up here in Canada were even more limited last year when I looked for a standard size replacements for my 86/Z51. Went with Yokohama V4S in 255/50 size, to replace the old GSC's. I know, 'only'-V speed rated, but so far, they're great! Slightly better ride than the GSC's, and in cooler/wetter weather, seem to stick much better! Decent looking tire, too - IMO. And a wear rating index of 500 to boot! Should outlast me, maybe!?
