No Reverse

I have an 89 6-speed that the lock-out lost it's tension and I can't get it into reverse. Can someone tell me what could have happened and what I need to do to fix the problem.

Check the simple stuff first. Like the clutch fluid level. When it is low, reverse is a bitch to get into.

When I pull up on the rign to put it in reverse there is normally some tension on that ring now, the tension is gone. What creates the tension on that ring?
