A word of caution here.
Some of the newer valve cover gasket material specifically call for NO chemical adhesive at all. Either the sealant has a negative chemical effect on the gasket material or prevents it from sealing properly.
I just installed a set of Fel-Pro PermaDryPlus gaskets a few days ago and the installation instructions specifically warn against use of any sealants.
I followed the instructions and installed mine dry, which is contray to what I'm use to doing with cork-type gasket material.

Yeah, but do they SEAL without any goop? Are yours leaking yet? If they are, I bet using RTV would have kept them from leaking.

I stood on the fence on this one ;) I put a little dab on the 4 outside corners of the Fel-pros and let it set up. At least they stayed in place during installation. Did this in March, so far so good....

Use no goop. You dont need it. Have the felpro with chrome cover and no leaks. Be sure to torque the bolts to spec. :cool:

I have the fel pro rubber gaskets and they didn't come with anything that said NOT to use a sealer. I just used the sealer to hold the gasket to the valve cover, I leave the other side dry. I've had them off and on many times without any leaks.
