I'm looking to powder coat most of my rear end assm. parts (camber struts, bat wing, knuckles, disc brake mount, dog bone's, well pretty much everything exept the pumpkin)
My ? is: Can these parts take the outgassing heat, and cooking heat. We are talking around 450*. I was wondering if it would take the Temper out of the cast aluminum???
When I converted to a 44 I had all my parts (including the pumpkin)
powder coated.
I even did the half shafts.
All with new poly and VBP struts
No problems at all with many 1.80 60 foot times.
Yes ,yes,no,no,.whatever. Powder coat curing temps are around 375f.That's in an oven.If you use infra red it's lower. That's not going to affect anything on a vette exept for the 160 thermostat!!.

I have the D44 as well. That is encouraging news... Thanks 89corvetteken...
The only part of the rear suspension that is different between a D36 and a D44 is the diff, itself, and of course the rear cover (batwing) that bolts to it.
There is even a really great chrome powder coat and high gloss clear available now. Lot easier than polishing and holds up great!

Well Normally I would polish them, but it takes to much time, and is a PITA... I was thinking about using Eastwoods Single Stage Chrome. It's a very shiny looking gray... It would certainly look better than, and protect better than they are right now...
