Default Flowmaster experences with #17154 cat back system

i need to hear from you forum members that had experences with the Flowmaster cat back system #17154 i need to hear what you think of this system because it's like 1/2 the price of a Corsa system, this is suppose to have the delta 50 series muffler which is their quirest muffler, question if you have purchase this flowmaster system#17154 (C4 88-91)would you do it again?
thanks boonie

I'm thinking the number you're referring to is a Summit number for that system, correct? I have cat-back system #17153, I'm not sure about the number you're providing. I can tell you I love the system I have. The mufflers are black with stainless tips and in my opinion sound great. For whatever reason, you won't find alot of people on this forum who like Flowmaster products. I've used them for years and have had no trouble with any of them and have no problem recommending them.

About the only thing quieter than Corsa inside is stock.
I had the Delta Flo 50s, they arent real loud outside the car like a 40s system would be but you will have interior resonance, especially with an auto.

I suggest you do a search on them. They suck. I wont deny that the one flowmaster that sounded good was American Thunder. Rest of them have lots of drone and sound icky. Loud but no sports car tone. I don't think that made much sense but in short terms stay away from them. You wont like them.

I had no problems with the system. I replaced the system with B&B which are true duals. The only thing I didnt like about the system was that the tips started to grow old with me. My new tips are much better looking.

Pictures of the Flowmaster vs B&B. I am sure you can tell which is which. IMO, The Corsa is nice but the tips are gross.

Magnajunk? Are you referring to Magnaflow? They sound pretty good in sound clips I have heard. I don't know what you heard them on or what system but I think they sound mean.

What makes Magnaflow junk and suck? They sound good, they are stainless, they have a lifetime warranty and one of there systems won't cost a house payment

A few members think that the Magnaflow doesnt sound good. I dont mind the system, but "HotRod90" says its junky, junk! He is usually not wrong.

You mean the Flowmaster Force II catback. I bought it new for my '88 about a month ago. I hated it and have since taken the mufflers off getting readu for a tru duel setup. The only reason I bought the flows was I assumed they'd be loud but they're the exact opposite. My factory exhaust sounded better and was a lot louder.

Everybody has an opinion on what sounds good to their ears, but magnaflow is by no means junk. This is obviously an opinion of someone who knows nothing about the topic they are talking about. Magnaflow offers the same quality workmanship that all the other TOP manufacturers offer.

Guys like HotRod90 mearly dislike the fact that most of us run Magnaflow; someone who just has to be different. Anybody want to take a guess at why most of us run magnaflow?

As for the Flowmasters, I've had them... the 40's delta. They sounded nice outside, were actually pretty quite but the inside resonance was killing me. The Magnaflows are about the same in volume, but they sound crisper and cleaner,... no resonance. I found the flowmasters to just be boomy.

Say what you want, but it seems like for a C4 Corvette, the best way to go is with a Corsa System. I spent $1200.00 on it, and don't regret it a bit. Some people say you get what you pay for. This might be one of those cases. When I bought my 92 it had a set of Flowmasters on it. I couldn't get them off fast enough. I hated the drone Put Dynamaxs on. just loud noise. Put Corsa's on

I think we can all agree that the stock system is to quiet. I like a loud growl. Some guys like a nice low tone. 3/4 of the forum says flowmaster sucks.

dan, if you'd take the time to read my profile, or my last post, you'll see all i was doing was baiting rick, and he took it hook line and sinker. he thought he pinned me in this thread. he's actually called them magnajunk in other threads.

i've actually had the system for a couple years, engine modded & long tube headers, and love it.

In that case my apologies for my sharp response. I just spent $1000 on a complete Magnaflow Exhaust, Headers and all, and couldn't be happier. Money doesn't come easy, and I know some people on this forum just like to post. I think there an excellent alternative to the more expensive systems, and they come at a decent price. I wouldn't want someone to discount the quality of this product based on a negative response.

Obviously you too like the Magnaflows if you are running them on your car.... I guess i need to say no more....

Dan

Hey guys, dumb question, do they have to tune the catback for you to specifically tune out your system's resonance, or is getting rid of resonance pretty much the same in all cars? I put headers in and now I get some resonance in the lower RPMs and I'm wondering if just any Corsa exhaust can eliminate it, or if it has to be specifically made to accomodate my current setup.
