Rear Window Defogger
My rear window defogger seems week. With light frost or even condesation, it takes 15 minutes to clear. By then I'm on the highway & the water blows off. It is working, as I can see the frost/condensationb move off over the wires before the rest of the winshield. Is this as fast as the rear defogger is supposed to work?

No. I had some problems with my defogger recently as well. Now that it is working, when there is fog on the glass, after I hit the switch, I can almost immediatly see the fog slowly move away from the wires. I'd say less than a few minutes to evaporate all fog. My problem turned out to be a loose hatch strut. Try turning the struts by hand and see how tight they are. They should be quite snug as the provide the electrical connection to the defog wires.

Hmm, that could be the reason why mine is almost useless as well. I have another question. The light stays on for about 2 or 3 minutes when i turn it on, the it goes out by itself. Is there a relay I should change or something? or is it not making contact at the shock, and thats causing it to turn off early? It is really not effective when it is on in the first place. How would you go about checking the system?

check the voltage @ the wires supplying the defroster (should be battery voltage) when turned on. If it is low there is a bad connection... realy or through the "strut"
with the power off verify continuity across the wires (of the defroster)
