Im looking into trying some of Royal Purple's Purple Ice. Is this product any good? Or as with all additives, its just a placebo with no real decrease in coolant temp. It claims to lubricate the water pump seals, and dramaticly decrease coolant temp. Anybody had any experiance with this stuff?
There have been a lot of topics on this. For me, my coolant can't get any cooler at a cruise so it can in no way help. Witch I prove by trying it, I had some left over from a previous car. It did slightly help that car as it ran hotter then the thermostat temp.
I haven't tried it. If your cooling system is limited by the specific heat of your coolant, then RP additive can reduce your coolant temp. If over 35 mph your coolant temp is within a couple degrees of the opening temperature of your STOCK thermostat, then the additive won't do squat!
i know this may sound crazy but wednesday i ran a 1/3rd bottle of seafoam into the brake booster line and into the intake ran it for about 50 miles and then changed oil..now its running about about 7/8 deg cooler...go figure
