I am a machinist but not an electrical guy. I need to install a shift light. the instructions say to hook the green wire to the tach send ing wire coming out of the ecm. I need to know which wire that is and where is a good place to go thru the firewall. My ride is a 95, LT1/6spd. blueskies,Ron.
I have a 93 so I can't say about the tach feed, but if you take the battery out you can fish your wires thru with the other ones behind the battery. I got my power feed from the light switch on the dash.
I used the white wire on the coil for green signal wire and got power and ground from under the dash. I had a hole from my amp cable so I can't help you there.

that works pretty much did the same for a direct tach signal tapped into a fused power siwtched wire going to the ecm for power. Any switched power source should work the light draws very little power. I drilled through the firewall just below the steering so that I could run all wiring out of the car (shift light, emmulater etc. I also located the light in the vent)
I thank the good persons for all the info, now I need to find the coil and get to work. I'm also wanting to do some cam and valve train, head and header work. Can anyone recomend a good speed shop to do the work. I live 50mi. north of Harrisburg PA.
