Can a 406-427 ci SBC fit into a vette? How can I stroke an engine to 427? What parts do I need? I would want this car streetable but also be a beast in the 1/4. Can a 427 rev to around 7K with gobs of torque? I rather new to modding engines so I would appreciate all of your help. :yesnod:
Anything is possible with enough MONEY :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
Well, can this be done under 15K? I will not be doing this till im at least into college a couple years, min four years from now. I would like to get a basic parts list going, like what size crank and the like
mackey is exactly right, materials research is getting tons of money from the National Science Foundation, and alot of that is going into ceramics and other things that can be used in engines. Some of the physicists here in my department are working on nanotechnology that absorbs the heat from your headers and uses a little device and converts ALL of it into cold air for your A/C. and believe me, it does work.
your best bet would be to buy a stroker kit. I would stick to the small block...but thats just me. I've got a 400 sb in my garage just waiting for money to throw at it.
You can build a 420 ci for a pretty reasonable price. Forget about reving over 6000 - 6200 rpm. A big motor like a 420 is a torque engine. You can make one that will put out 520 hp.
I wouldn't start collecting parts or anything like that right now. You may lose interest in the idea by the time you graduate. As for technology, the only change your likely to see in the next four years is an intake thats better than the Miniram 2 if we're lucky. Don't expect to see anything significant find its way into the small block since its not in production anymore.
Re: How to build my dream engine... (AquaMetallic94LT1)
As said before with over 400+ cubes you'll have a hard time making power over 6,000 rpm, but why would you need to with all that torque. I would use a Motown or Bow Tie block for big cube build ups.
For now I would do the bolt ons, and then maybe a top end job. But it looks like you've already started on that. :)
