Default Pick me a cam

OK, you bastards have got me considering wasting time and money putting in a cam to match the superram.

Is the ZZ4 cam a good choice? What do they cost? Which one is good.

Only an idiot would take apart a car that runs perfectly fine with 30K miles........I am that idiot.

Let's hear it....

Also, if I do decide to do the cam, how much of an obsticle are the heads.

I KNOW I KNOW, in a perfect world...........my piggy bank is runnin' dry....

ZZ4 is so close to stock that I say its worthless, particularly with SR.

Go with the Accel 74219, its made for SR.

So what time should I expect you here to help do the work?

Anyway, will the LT4 springs be enough for the lift?

With the slight lope, can I run AC off it?

Do you think I need to worry about the bearings in the block and fitting the new cam?

Brad work? you gotta be sh***in me!

Look up the specs of the cam you want and compare lift to the Hotcam kit. That should give you an idea on the springs.

OK, serious, I ordered 1.6 rockers. Do I need to send them back and get 1.5s?

Next question....the lift at 1.5s is .525. Will the LT4 springs work, or do I have to find other springs for this lift?

what will the lift with 1.6 be? Is it too much? Again, will the springs handle it?

Look at all the trouble you guys are causing me.....

I'm going back to PRC. It's cheaper and less work.

get 1.6 rr and then you need springs good to around .6 as the 219 lifts to .560 at least according to lpe website specs

From memory the LT4 springs are rated to .525 so the 1.6 would be to much. I am not an expert at this though. So the 1.6 rocker would be better if you do not have enough LCA. That would depend on the cam.

I was joking. Sorry, forgot the or Note the above when I said "serious", because above I was kidding...

I put up a number of threads about this project. It started simple enough, Super Ram, some rockers and headers, done. Then I was told "you have to do the cam", and "taking out the radiator is a piece of cake", ect....... so a relatively simple project is becoming a huge project...hence the comments about the heads above....

Lighten up.

I appreciate all the help.

I would go with stiffer springs than LT4s. Dont change your mind from 1.6 RRs.

Take the lift of the cam itself, and multiply by 1.6 to see the lift with them. Figure it backwards if its quoted with 1.5s.

I was going to go with a 219 cam but decided to go more aggressive with it. I chose a Comp Cams 230/230 0.560 (with 1.5) which turns out to be a 0.598 with 1.6. This cam is on a 110 CL, so idle will be somewhat choppy.

You could still run the 1.5 and get the 0.560 lift without having to buy 1.6's.

Just happened onto this thread. Anyway, the LPE 219 ad says 1.6 rockers. So I would assume the .560" lift is WITH 1.6 rockers, not 1.5's.
I suppose a phone call would be in order if I were to be installing one, although I am not. I am an avowed CC Extreme Energy grind fan, not to put down Mr. L at all (his fame speaks for him alone). And yeah, those Voodoo's do look pretty good too.
