Has anyone done an interior swap from the crap 84-89 to the nicer 90-96? If anyone has I would be very interested......I'm most interested in the dash and dash cluster.
There are a few people on here that have done this swap. It's certainly not impossible, but I would harbour a guess that it's not the easiest thing to do either.
I'm sure at least one of our members that has done this swap will chime in soon and lend their words of wisdome based on factual experience. If not, try a search in the archives - there might be something there.
To do it properly you would require all the parts from a donor car.
The console as mentioned above plus the door panels as they are different where they meet the dash.
Has completely different support structure under dash.Does not have the big alum crossmember like early models.
Then there is the problem of wiring the new dash .
90+ have different ECM ; one of the elec guru's may be able to say how to connect up wiring
I recall a member from another forum who did that swap. He might even be a member here. If memory serves me it was one hell of a job. I think the expense of all new pieces, including door panels would be a poor investment of both time and money unless you plan on being "buried with the car"..
Doesn't sound like anything I'd like to tackle. I can sit in any C4 and be pleased with the interior styling. They are what they are.

I searched around in the archives on this topic but to no avail.........anyone?
Ran the search, and found 20+ posts on the subject....
If your using the search function, use the one on the main menu bar (forum, user cp, etc), Search, click Advanced search, at bottom of advanced box-click Archive Posts, pick C4 tech or general) run search, you'll find the info... You can only pick tech or general, so you;ll need to run the search for each forum section...Once you learn how to use the function its a great tool. Good luck
I hated my 88's dash. I wouldn't put a later model C4 dash in. Too much time and expense. There are other options. This cost me about $295.00 for the Dash and $200.00 for the steering wheel. It took about 3 hours.
Inspired by Jeff i took on this task myself. Starting with a donor 96 took the entire interior and it wasnt too bad. The only modifications are removing the factory dash mounting brackets and welding the late model ones in, then a few minor clearance issues with the bcm bracket and the air vents to the aluminum bar that runs under the dash. Started on this awhile ago but just havent had time until now to finish it up.

If you think it looks like "CRAP" Why don't you just buy a 90-96?? I think the early C4 interiors look great...
C5 West has a C5 drop in kit for the early C4's. Cost around $1500. You can reuse ALL the same electonics (gauge, radio, dummy lights, ac controls)... I am still trying to find someone that's installed this before, but still can't find any pics of one actually IN a car
It looks awesome. Comes with the entire dash that bolts right onto your original dash frame and also has new door panels and some other new stuff. Check it out if you have the money. I'd have one in a hearbeat, but I can't afford it
both are old pics from the initial test fit without the aluminum crossbar underneath. Now it is going back in with a few mods like removing the abs/asr/cruise/sir/passive keyless crap. Prior I had run for about 2k miles to find and address any problems before final installation. This went way easier than I ever imagined though (had a parts car).
and after the interior fit up i got bored again so......
