brake/wheel questions...
I purchased a 1994 coupe last summer. I live near Road America (Milwaukee) and I've fallen victim to the siren's song of the track. I'm going to slowly convert, as $ (and the wife) permits to a more track ready car. I'm starting with brakes.
I've considered the C5 upgrade, but that entails some modification to the car. I've heard very good things about the "Baer Claw" eradispeed brake package as well. It has 13" front rotors and 12" back, as opposed to stock 11.9. From what I've read this is a good option.
Any thoughts?
Also, I'm looking for a set of "grand sport" wheels, not really for performance but just because they are cool. I'm looking to put on the 9.5's all the way around, because the 11 inch ones are just to big. There were a buch of different combo's of these wheels, and the Z-R1 wheels, with different off sets, etc... Any adivce on this? Also, anyone have a set for sale?
Thanks.

As for the 11inchers in the back, don't they stick way out? The actual Grand Sport had a wider rear end than my standard 94, if my understanding is correct, and the grand sport still had those extra tack on fenders because the wheels stick out so far. Also, do you need spacers or anything? Weight might also be a consideration, as the Grand Sport had about 35 more horses.
Thanks for any thoughts you might have.

If you're new to road courses, you'll be fine with stock brake components, a slightly more aggressive brake pad compound, and the addition of brake cooling ducts. If you're really hot to spend the money then skip straight to an aftermarket setup such as Wilwood, StopTech, etc.
The nice thing about the 9.5" GS wheels on all 4 corners is that it allows you to rotate the tires to even out the wear.
You will also need to decide how you intend to use the car....general track day car / HPDE, or NASA Time Trials, actual racing, etc....as that will impact what mods you can make and still be legal (if you choose the later uses which are class specific/competitive events).
More than anything else you need seat time, seat time, seat time.

Welcome to the sport and bring $$$ Pretty easy to blow thru a set of brake pads and rotors in a weekend at a track like RA, not to mention how quickly you can chew up a set of tires, wheel hubs, etc. Then there are entry fees, gas, food, accomodations.....

The GS rear wheels have a different offset than the ZR1 rear wheels. The flares cover the 1/4" or so the wheels stick out.
Here's a link in the C4 F/S forum for just the wheels you are looking & at an incredible price.

Nathan, there are absolutely no mods needed to go to the C5 brake kit. You can go back to stock C4 gear anytime you wish. Nobody would know the difference.
The bear claw eradispeed package is well not cheap. It is a C4 PBR with the baer logo cast into them. Do not expect them to perform any better than the stock C4 J55 caliper. The rotors in the kit I would not use for HPDE track days either.
