Default 434 update, custom header pics

First setup...
I had my original TPIS headers modified for the 18* degree heads. The center tubes needed to be spread and the collectors moved inward. Here are couple pics...

Here is the new set for a lot less than what Stahl and others wantedfor a hand-built set. In fact it was thier price that made look to the above modifications. I'm saying nothing about their quality, the dollar amount was just too much. These are being done for less than half from a box of mistakes. Header makers sell their production mistakes by the box, you get 100 or so pounds of various bends.

Passenger side

Driver side

He did a great job of maximizing starter clearance and making room for plug changes.

I am going to have him put an O2 bung in both sides for tuning.

He is also going to make a bracket for the vac pump that will replace the tensionor and A/C delete pulley and seal up my valve cover mod to fit the wiper motor cover.

So, it's coming together well. The rest of the exhaust will be 3" mandrel bends with aluminized tubing. I am putting cats in the tunnel area after the S bends...hopefully they will get enough to be effective. If not, they will quiet things down a bit.

Stahl only charges $1500.00 for a great set of headers coated and everything NOT
I got the 1 7/8 for my 434 and the #3 plug wire is right on the header and the headers need to be removed to change the plug, not to mention
I had to wrap the header and insoliate the plug and it still burns through every 30 runs.
You should see the exaust collector on the passenger side ,it cooks the trans and burns the trans banket every chance it gets, with the tail pipes it burns the trans ever more.
Keep going the way you are you will be bucks ahead and I will guarantee the job will be much better.

Hey Steve, looks like you are getting closer

I cut my Hookers apart and re-welded them too,, it was no a big deal, I have seen the "build your own" kits that you can buy that come with many different bends and angles but I dont recall what diameter they are.

Anyway, keep the pics coming!

No, AR Fabrication could but when I brought my TPIS headers to him for modification, he said they would crack, not work and whatever else. He wanted to do set of hand-built for the same as stahl...$2600. They charge 95/hr.

This guy in Harrisonburg, Va at JL Maintenance charges 45/hr and blew through these headers. They are a maintenance company that added a hot rod shop...like Orange County Choppers was/is a steel fence and railing company. He did such a great job on the original mods and I watched him build a pro mod mustang from the ground-up so I was sold.
