when I sit in traffic my car starts to get hot, and when I shut her off, white smoke comes up from under the hood, only when its like 90+ weather heat, when under it does not smoke, I have a 93 vette LT1, is there something that is common to make the LT1 I should look at?
What temp does it get on the digital and analog gauges? The L98's and LTx's are known for rear intake manifold leaks. What does the smoke smell like? Color? What area does the smoke come from?
Autozone sells a dye that you can put in the oil/coolant to detect leaks. Here is a pic of my 95 rear intake manifold oil leak at 44K miles.
the temp will get up tp 250, white smoke will come out, and smells like somethings burning(not collant) like something melting maybe? and comes from exhaust manifold area
Yeah, the engine is getting too hot. Have you checked to see if the fans come on? Run the car up on ramps and get under to investigate further on the leak. See if you can pinpoint it. If the fans are on at around 230* or when the A/C is on, you likely have a stuck closed t-stat.
