when heated up my 86 (man trans - doug nash 4+3) has a problem in reverse, if I lock the wheels (turn right hard) there is a noticeable whirring sound and sounds if something is slipping. I tried to back up a hill and the car would not move in gear. In forward gears the clutch feels solid with no signs of slippage.
Any Ideas what it could be?
Thanks,
Tom
From my limited (but recent) experience with DNE overdrives, here's a quote from a noted DNE overdrive expert..."Non reverse is caused by the reverse clutch pack slipping, although the manual part goes in reverse fine, Reverse mode requires the direct clutches to be functional for reverse. The carrier had been blown on this unit which creates excessive direct clutch clearance, thus the failure."...
