Im tring to find hooker headers for a 1996 corvette with little luck. What is the difference between the 95s and the 96s that makes it hard to find headers?
Thx
You can fit the Hooker 2151 headers to the late model C4's. The exhaust ports are the same on the L98 versus the LT1. I have a '96 LT4 and I installed these headers, however it required quite a few minor alterations to both the headers and the car to make them fit in the engine bay. Other than the headers you will also have to pay for an exhaust shop to place O2 bungs differently on the headers (~$50), and to alter the rest of your exhaust to fit the header flanges (~$120), and I also recommend getting the headers coated with a thick insulating coating (~$325) after the O2 bung placement is done (this will help save your plastic engine bay parts from wearing out due to heat, and will extend the life of your headers). You will also need to order one O2 wire extender (~$25) and some quality header gaskets.
After the install you will only have the 2 front O2 sensors, not the rears. The bungs for the rear O2s will also be gone as a result of removing the passenger side cat and having the exhaust shop cut your driver's side pipe going into the cat (the pipe is much longer on that side and would hit the headers). I bought an O2 simulator and wired it up to simulate the rears, which was a royal pain. I would not recommend going that route. I ended up cutting off my simulator after it stopped working and noticed no difference in drivability; if you want the code removed, have it programmed out when you retune the PCM, which you will need to do anyway to remove the codes produced by eliminating the AIR injection system (required step), and to optimize your torque curve for the better flowing headers.
Now that they're installed, the hooker headers are great, I love them. The engine bay is 100 times easier to work in without all the AIR plumbing and stock manifolds; I don't have to remove anything to change the plugs due to the way the headers fit. During the installation I learned my car inside and out, and it's a piece of cake now to take it apart and put it back together. The car drives well too, lots more power now (although I had plugged cats before the install)...there is some exhaust resonance but that can be fixed with a little stainless steel wool in the mufflers.
PM me if you have questions about the installation process or anything else.

95 and 96 would use the same header. The 96 would have OBDII and would have four o2 sensors. So you might need to add bungs for the back sensors or use simulators. You only need the two front ones which most LT1 headers have.
