Default Winter engine mods....rough price?

So here's the deal...with winter coming, I'm planning on doing a complete engine setup with heads/cam/intake. I was wondering if this setup would be a good combo, and what else I would need to go with it...or if I have everything covered.

Right now the motor has less than 6k on it. It's a rebuilt Jasper engine. 350 thats been bored .040 over. Got 4 bolt mains on it. I have these pistons in it right now:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

I also have 1.6RR (self-aligning), Hooker headers, flowmaster exhaust...so that restriction is taken care of.

I want to get Trick Flow 195 cc heads, possibly the 175cc trick flows. Are the spring they use good for hydraulic roller cams? And when it says for use with center bolt intakes, would that include a LT1 converted intake?

Secondly I want to get the Comp cams 268XFI cam. I was just wondering if the .570 lift it shows on summit's website means with a 1.6RR or 1.5 rocker. I have 1.6RR right now.

Finally, I'm going to go with either a converted LT1 intake or a modified stealth ram.

So:

Heads: 1200
Cam: 300
Intake: 500 (if with LT1)
Head bolts: 60
Dyno tune: 300-400 (ish)
Gaskets: 200 (head, exhaust, intake)

Total: 2700 or so.

Would have liked it under 2500....but oh well.

What I would like to know is if I can still use my self-aligning roller rockers...I would like to seeing as I just bought them. But I don't know if they can handle .550+ lift. Secondly, I also just put in 24lb injectors...would I need to go bigger?

So basically, is that my total cost? Or am I forgetting something here and there? I'm trying to find the best package and get a total price without leaving too many things out.

Also, any idea as to the power output I might expect? I know it tough to say, but anyone have imput if they ran a similiar head/cam choice?

Thanks guys!

I'm looking at patriot heads for the money. Not sold yet, but they seem like a good deal.

Call them see what you think....

BTW, if you estimate $2700, assume $5K.

I was looking at those, but I heard the casts we're made in Mexico or something like that and then rewelded and CNC'd.

They look decient, but that price just seems to be too good to be true.

Anyone else with opinions or ideas for my mods?

i got a pair of pro topline aluminum lightning heads on my srtoker bought them unassembled. if you go the stroker route and do intake runners and plenum as well look for the 7000+ price range my short block alone was almost $2700.00. dont go cheap you will regret it in the long run

You can spend another $200 real fast, if you add new oil, filter, spark plugs, antifreeze, vacuum and H2O hoses, clamps, gasket sealer, and whatever odds and ends that you end up needing. + will you need valve covers to fit the new heads ??$$ When I did mine nearly 4 years ago, I could not believe the extra stuff i ended up chasing down "while I was at it".

Well, like I said, we have our own mechanic shop, so the oil, coolant, filters, hoses, etc I have lying around.

I'm not stroking it....seeing as the short block assembly has less than 5 k on it. I know a 383 would be nice, but a 350 with heads/cam/intake would work equally as well.

I just wanted to know how this setup looks, and if I'll have any piston/valve issues? And if I'm missing any other parts to equate into the total figure.

What size injectors should I put on it? Are the 24lbs with an AFPR ok?

the cam specs are for a 1.5:1 ratio. you will have a lift of .608 so make sure you heads are capable of that. i have 24lbs injector in mine and they are workin fine.

Well darn, I didn't want to go to radical on lift...I perfer to keep the lift <.570 so I don't get into too many problems with valvetrain geometry.

you shouldnt have any geometry problems as long as you get the right pushrods and your heads are made to handle that kinda lift. unless your gonna be building an all out race car i see no need to go that radical.

Default cam lift / 1.6 rocker

You might want to check, I believe 570 lift is with a 1.6 ratio.
