I just picked up a custom PCM chip from one of the other forum members. Everything looks to be the same except for a few things. For instance he has a mild cam on the chip (specs 204/214@ .050 and 422I/444E), he's also running a stock exhaust. I am running a stock cam but am running stock manifolds to dual exhaust with H pipe (no cats) and magnaflows on the rear. I was wondering if I'm safe going ahead and installing the chip as is and see what kind of power gain I get or should I have it flashed first.
Thanks for the replies ahead of time.
I have 86E BTW

personally, i would have the chip set (reflashed) for your vehicle... you jjust don't know the issues associated with a wrong program...
Since you say everything looks the same, except, are you reading the chip program?

I'm reading the order sheet that he gave me with the chip... The options he had on his vehicle.
Is it the EXACT same year, gears, transmission, etc, etc...
Alvin usually tunes those things EXACTLY to match the customer's car.
I'd get a reflash for your own car. I believe he can flash those chips multiple times... give him a call and see what he can do for you. He couldn't be any friendlier and helpful. Awesome guy to deal with.
If you have a way to datalog, then try the chip and watch the numbers. No datalog=no try. Its very possible that chip may have too much advance or even be too lean. These may hurt the motor.
