Default 4+3 question

I have an 85 vette & I bought a 87 4+3 tranny to put in it, I noticed it doesn't have a plugin for the 1st gear switch, will my OD work if I don't have the switch plugged in ?

The 87 4+3 tranny should have a 1st gear switch. Perhaps the one you got is really from an 86 (no 1st gear switch in 86).

I'm not sure if the 1st gear switch is open or closed when in 1st gear. Perhaps you can determine this if you have the parts in front of you?

There are 2 possibilities:

Either the ecm will think the car is always in 1st and O/D won't operate, or the ecm will think that the car is never in 1st which means the O/D will be active also in 1st gear.

Different years had different setups as far as switches go.

Do you have the trans from the 85?
Just swap the side cover plate over to the early one.
