If I remember correctly, the 84-87 will interchange with each other, the same for the 89-96 but the 88 is unique. I'm not a 100% on that though. Best to go to a shock manufacturer or Corvette specialty vendor and check parts numbers...

OK, I was almost right. 88-96 rears are interchangible, the 88 front shocks are unique...

Part numbers may be unique to 88 fronts, but that doesn't mean the fitment is.

You can't afford $30 for a set of shocks?

I think I would wait and at least buy KYB's a pair at a time. Gabriel base shocks are not very good.

I ran those exact shocks on my last car, there wasn't a damn thing wrong with them.

But will that decrease the value of my numbers matching 85 C4?

I'm glad you were happy with them. I've sold thousands of them and they are pretty crappy.

Crappy from the get-go or getting crappy sooner than other shocks might?

In most cases you get what you pay for. Gabriel, Monroe, Delco, etc., low end shocks just aren't very good from the gitgo.

Probably crappy enough to not be worth the time spent installing them.

I just got a complete set of KYB shocks for my 89 for $117.50 and that includes shipping and no tax. Let me know if you want a set and I can email the stores address.

Have you run them? For a cheap replacement they are more than satisfactory. Unless you are a member of the C4 team that drives the wheels off your car everytime you have it out.
CC, yes they will reduce the price of your numbers matching 2,400,000 mile corvette.

Shocks are sort of optional anyways. I've driven mine without em.
