The ABS check light only comes on after 5-10 minutes of driving, then goes away. Is this normal? Or does this indicate and error. I have plugged in a scan tool, and there are no codes present.
Any recommended maintenance for the ABS unit? If so, how can I instruct my garage to do so?
Brakes feel really hard, changed the booster, master cylinder, flushed new pads, turned rotors, rebuilt calipers no luck. I can push the pedal all the way down very hard, and that gives me good brakes for a few stops then back to normal.
Also, when I'm driving, and turn, the brakes squeal, and if i lightly push them, the sound goes away.

.....theres a section in the helms service manual that has a troubleshhoting section on brakes...
Remove your rear left wheel and check the wires insulation behind it on the top left side.
All the ABS wires go tru here and are very exposed to mud and water.
Corroded or crapy wires at this level will most likely give you a code.
First thing to check before going "inside".
The thing is, Im not sure if Im getting a code, the light only comes on for a second, as it does in the startup test. But my light doesnt come on for the first 5-10 minutes.. flashes for a second, and can feel the brake pedal pulsate for a split second, then goes away..
Check the ABS compartment for moisture and inspect the wires in the connectors for corrosion. That compartment is prone to corrosion and can eat the wires up over a period of time. My 10 awg power wire was corroded to the point where it broke off at the connector.
Typical consumer grade scan tools will only access ECM codes, without a Tech 1 or similar professional quality tool you will need to follow the instructions here.
